Denis Power Appointed Judge of the Ontario Supreme Court of Justice
OTTAWA, March 9, 2001-The lawyers and staff of Nelligan O'Brien Payne are delighted that Denis Power, a founding partner of the firm, has been appointed a judge of the Ontario Superior Court of Justice in Ottawa.
Mr. Justice Power began his career in 1963 as an articling student in Ottawa. Two years later, he joined John Nelligan and in 1969, the Nelligan Power partnership was established. For more than 35 years, Mr. Justice Power practised primarily in the areas of professional negligence law, commercial and insolvency litigation and education law.
Certified by the Law Society of Upper Canada as a specialist in civil litigation, Mr. Justice Power is a former Director and Officer of The Advocates' Society. He is also a former President of the County of Carleton Law Association, a Director and former President of the Thomas More Lawyers' Guild. In 1989 he became a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers.
